hi,
I am having a lot of trouble looking for a good quality kit of the M51 super Sherman in 1/72nd scale.
All I have found is a conversion kit that deals with only the turret.
If this is the case, can any of you guys please tell me what model of Sherman tank has the rounded edges and the HVSS suspension like the Israeli M51 super Sherman?
Also any information that you can tell me would be of great help. Remember the kit needs to in 1/72nd scale. Thank you

Well they started life as M4A1,76mm, wet stowage, HVSS tanks. The IDF performed all sorts of engine, gun and internal mods.
BTW the "rounded edges" are indicative of a cast hull tank originally referred to as an M4A1.
There are a few examples of M 51's built from welded hull tanks. They started as M4A3 (gasoline engine) or A2 (diesel engine) tanks with HVSS.
Again they were heavily modified by the IDF to suit their needs.

Shermans after the late 1940s were fitted with dry racks fitted on the hull floor. The use of wet stowage was found to be much less effective than just moving the ammunition out of the hull side sponsons.

That's why I said they started life as wet stowage tanks. After the war anything was possible. Once the Israeli's received them, the sky was the limit.

Www. 172shermans.com.
They have an Israeli Sherman page going over the available conversion kits.
With the stable of UM and Dragon Sherman kits you could do the conversion yourself. The hard part would be sculpting the enlarged turret. If you can find a Heller AMX-13 kit that has the 105mm gun barrel.
