I am building the 1/35 Tamiya M1 abrams tanks. The kits have the loader's hatch 7.62 and it's mount cast as one piece.
I want to replace the 7.62 with an aftermarket one with better detail. Apart from major surgery on the 7.62 mount, are there any alternatives to substitute for the kit's cast together mount/mg?

If it's an M240 would you be able to use one of Live Resin's kits?

At least Live resin has released a replacement M240 that should be OK (but the mount is not included....) :

I haven't found any full mg/mount replacement sets out there outside of a full detail set. If you just want the mount/mg, there's a set on Shapeways by J-Shape. That's the only set I've found. It includes the .50 Cal and mount and the M240 and mount.
