A few pictures of the model with the new front mirrors.

There is also a new front bumper, something that I'm working on at the moment.
It is used in SOCOM M-ATV's, but I will write more about it in another post.

I have also designed and 3D printed at Shapeways the under engine shield.
I made this piece because it is depicted in the instruction booklet of the kit (part number F20, in assembly paragraph 21) but it is missing in the box (indeed the entire F sprue is missing).

I’m very slowly progressing toward the end of this “building adventure”.
I’d like to put something in the cargo bed.
What is usually there ?
Fuel and water canisters ? MRE boxes ?
Ammo boxes, Pelican cases ?

About the front bumper used in the M-ATV SOCOM version: I have made some corrections and minor enhancements and I have uploaded it on Shapeways today.
It is now available for printing.
Always about SOCOM M-ATV, I have started the design of another add-on: the right rear antenna mount.

Ettore, those look great. You know, most of what you have done can benefit Trumpeter 1/16 M-ATV kit as well. I would love to have then in 1/16 for my kit and I'm sure others with the large kit wouldn't mind a set or two.
Food for the thought![]()
Thanks to input and support provided by Mike I have also made available some add-on’s in 1/16 scale, good complements to the Trumpeter M-ATV.
They are the Harris antenna mounts and the additional front mirrors, both based on the same design already made in 1/35 scale.

And here is, at last, the completed model.
By the way, this is the model that stayed for the longest time on my workbench.

Here a look at the back of the model.
Duke cage, Harris antenna mount (with accordion) and spare tire hoist have been 3D designed by myself and printed at Shapeways.

Indeed the model is not 100% completed.
I have a doubt about the whip antenna on the left side.
How long should it be ?
Can it be left free floating as it is now in the picture, or should I bend it and attach it with a string to the frame of the vehicle ?

And what brand are the antennas? Are they included in the kit or is it aftermarket?

Antennas have been scratch built using styrene rods of various diameters.
Only the X-Wing antenna is included in the kit, even though missing the pole (not difficult to make with a styrene rod).

A really great build!!! Thanks for sharing.
What paint did you use? Are you planning to do any extra weathering (e.g. chipping or more dusting)?

Hi Nikos,
to be honest, painting and weathering are the aspects of modelling that I like less.
Therefore I don’t think I will spend more time on it.
The paint I used is “US Army/Marines sand” by Model Master (an enamel paint).
For dusting I used “Africa Dust Effect” by AK interactive.
Thank you for your appreciation of my work.
