Other than nomenclature, where there any differences between the KV-85 and the JS-1?

Yes, they shared the same turret, but the hulls are completely different. The KV-85 having a KV-1 hull and the JS-1 a JS series hull.

Hello guys!
JS series was developed in an attempt to redesign the existing KV platform using battle experience and to eliminate some design flaws with inclination towards differentiated armour thickness. They wanted to achieve better performance (speed, protection, maneuverability, armament etc.) on a lighter, narrower chassis.
