As a age old fan of Centurion tanks ( I still have my first Dinky Centurion diecast), I was extremely excited when AFV Club announced the release of the Mark 5/1 Australian model (35100). Being the impatient sort, I rushed out and purchased it and wished to convert to an IDF variant. Lo and behold, further offerings were issued depicting various IDF tanks which I promptly added to my stash. Now I would like to return to my original plan and convert my Mk5/1 but need help finding conversion kits that would help in this process.

I am no Centurion expert but I think you can build the Australian Centurion kit in an IDF vehicle out of the box except the decals or a couple of minor changes (the gun barrel could be one).
If you want to build a later variant, Legend has various conversion sets for the AFV kits.
This is their website, go through their products and you will find lots of goodies: http://www-legend.co.kr/

The Aussie Cents did have a combination of features that may not have been on the ones acquired by Israel, notably the IR kit. What period of IDF service are you planning to depict? You might need an L7 105mm for a start.

I was hoping to depict a IDF vehicle during the Six Day War.

Why dont you compare your kit with the AFV Club kit no 35159 to see the differencies?

Hi Henry,
I think you can't build an idf centurion from the aussie centurion kit....the skirts are not provided in the aussie kit
You are able to do an aussie centurion from the six day war idf kit though...all the parts are there.
Go to hobbysearch website they have instructions for idf kit that you can use to do your conversion from the aussie kit. i think the aussie kit has all the part just not the skirts and the decals.

I maybe bias here (no not really) but why not build an Aussie cent and use this augmenting addition:
http://www.firestormmodels.com/store/product.php?productid=11148&cat=276&page=1
It’s a great build and it’s Australian.

There were vehicles without sideskirts. So the lack of them in the kit is not a problem.

If you are building a Meteor-engined vehicle, remember to remove the aux gen exhaust on the right - AFV Club mirrored the left side configuration and obviously didn't trouble to check.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I think I might just let my Aussie Mk5/1 stew in the stashpile for awhile and give my wallet a rest. I really do appreciate the input.
