Great release, I have already built the Academy Lee, so I will probably pass, but this release should make a lot of people very happy. Takom does like to get the most out of their molds, so in addition to other variants of the Lee, maybe we will see that suspension and the grant tracks on a Ram someday? Great time to be an armor modeler that's for sure!

don't forget Cherry Bombing the finished model. (Similar to the 22 cal. solution)
I did that with a 1:72 Hasegawa Grant and about an ounce of black powder back when I was in high school.

Suggestions for what I should do with my unbuilt Tamiya Lee, a handful of those, and one Grant will be appreciated.
1. Painting practice ?
2. .22 cal target practice?
3. Use as a source for styrene sheet with rivet heads?
4. Scrap/Wrecks for dioramas (nice idea but I don't do dioramas ..)
5. further suggestions, please help ....
/ Robin
Put on Big boots and stomp. Every time you feel angry or frustrated, get out a Tamiya Lee and stomp. Then use all the little pieces as confetti on New Years.
The more I consider it the more inclined I become to use epoxy putty to fix the Tamiya Lee turret. Just to see if I can do it.

I'll take one of each please. Maybe more with different variants.

Any tentative release date yet? I hope they will arrive this fall, so that I could use the Grant in the Crusader to Gazala Campaign!

Takom should in my view also include M31 ARV.

Give them to or use them to help a new modeller get into the hobby. They go together pretty well, so as practice models, they're useful. As a first rate kit, not so much.
They can be turned into something resembling a Lee/Grant, but it's a ton of work.
It's possible:
My corrected Lee prior to weathering.
You can see the reshaping of the turret. I also added a couple details to the turret like the cast bump to the left of the main gun mount, the lifting eye bolt locations, reshaped the protectoscope surround and used a hull protectoscope (the turret piece is garbage)and changed the turret gun rotor to actually point forward in line with the gun (the kit has it pointing up at 45 degrees). Plus I added cast texture and a new 30 cal barrel.
The hull had a huge amount of rework done to get it to some reasonably accurate state. But I couldn't do anything with the fact the hull was too wide.
And after:

Oh happy day! I was almost at the point of buying an Academy and trying the easiest/cheapest fix for the suspension. Now; with any luck; I won't have to, as long as the price is affordable. But I'm pretty sure I'm gunna' HAVE to get a Grant at the very least. Being a big fan of "gizmology" I don't require a full interior either, just the basics that I can add to would be fine.

Academy fixed the suspension issues within about a year of the initial release eleven years ago. The kit is that old already!
Chances are that if you bought one it has the corrected parts. But it is a "meh" kit with some fit issues on the upper superstructure and gun mount. And it's not a Tunisia Lee. It's the early production with odd storage boxes. And why does the instructions not mention anything about the tow cable? The parts are on the sprue. Academy kits are sometimes like that. There are bits on the sprue to put together stuff that appear nowhere in the instructions even though it's a detail otherwise wrong or missing.

Great and about time we had a new Grant and Lee. I hope this is a big step up from the Academy kit.
I wanna see accurate shapes, clear lights and periscopes, pre drilled gun barrels, one piece gun barrels and at the very least link and length tracks instead of those crappy rubber band type tracks (which should be consigned to history's dustbin).
