I've been gathering references on the carriers, tankettes and light tanks built by Vickers Carden Loyd in the 1930s and they all look to have very similar, if not the same, track links. Is this true, or am I missing the differences? It would be nice to use the Modelkasten Universal Carrier tracks to improve some of the other VCL kits in 1/35.

The Loyd Carrier, Universal Carrier and T16 Carrier all used the same type of tracks. I expect they were the same on the Loyd tankettes too as the UC was a development of the earlier tankette/carriers.
At the size of the Kasten UC tracks, no one will know the difference, you can even get away with using them on the Vulcan Vickers Light Tanks, which I believe Vulcan has you put on backward and being link and length you are stuck with....

Thanks for the info. Now the question is how many sets of microscopic track links I can assemble before I go blind.

I think insanity sets in first. They are Teeny Tiny little things and fiddly to assemble, but do look good if you take your time and assemble with care.

Don't think so ...
But, with a microscopic drillbit, an optivisor with a x50 magnification, extremely steady hands and a continent sized patience I think it could be possible to make these workable:
Simply drill out holes for the trackpins and insert pins cut from suitable wire
