Doubtless a nice kit but given the excellent Dragon Brummbars (inc those with molded zimm) are fetching absolute peanuts on eBay, I am unsure why Tamiya think this is a kit/AFV in demand?
Also, you never actually see many built up at all.
A strange choice (IMHO) for Tamiya with this one.

Tamiya's kit is the final production version with the simplified upper superstructure and added machine gun mount. Dragon's version of this variant dates from 1994 (1998 with the improved Gunze Sangyo chassis), and was long in need or replacement. Dragon's "Smart Kit" Brummbar models are earlier variants.

Totally agree with your assessment Gary. This is probably one of the least wanted tanks of the German WW II period, as far as modelers go.

I built that Dragon kit, and old or not I feel it has better detail than Tamiya's new kit.
And as far as why Tamiya decided on this release, Tamiya apparently makes what THEY want to make, and that has always been the case.

Enjoyed the video build. Looks like a nice kit, subject matter not withstanding.
