Refs: Desert sands and Palm trees.

Hi all,
In answer to a recent post about desert sand I promised to try and find images that illustrate texture.
Desert sands are rarely flat. Wind action creates waves and ripples exactly the same way as with water.

Also I’ve noticed palm trees are not always the right type for dios of Middle Eastern and Arabian Gulf scenes. The most likely palms found in these areas are those of the date variety.

Hope they prove of some use
Cheers
Peter

Hi! Nice photos! Thanks for the shots! Does that mean there is no standard color for sand?

Hi Shonnen...there are lots of shades and colours.
It all depends on what the original rock was.
e.g. Volcanic rock gives black and dark grey sand.
Colours here in the Arabian Gulf area range from yellow-beige to orange, almost teracotta.
But most of it is the usual sandy beige.
Further south around Oman it can even have a greenish tint to it.

Cheers
