Albert Figg 1920 - 2017
I have learnt today that Albert Figg passed yesterday at the age 97. Albert was a member of the Royal Artillery during World War 2 and took part in many actions. He spent many years campaigning for a memorial to be erected at Hill 112 in Normandy, a campaign started in 1989. Albert soldiered on and managed to get a suitable memorial for the site which was added too with many other memorials to the fallen and those who took part in the taking of Hill 112 and other battles. Albert was always happy to talk to anyone about his life and his goals and I was lucky enough to talk to him on a few occasions, but my daughter was very close to this old soldier and will miss him greatly. Albert will be greatly missed by many people and I raise a glass to him.
One of the pictures is my daughter steering Albert at Hill 112, a great man who achieved much in making us remember the sacrifices of others.

My condolences to his family, and to you and your daughter. You were most fortunate to have met and known him and you both have memories that you can share.
