I am thinking of purchasing Miniarm's T-55 wheels, However I really am hooked on Quickwheel's masks. Does anyone have the Miniarm T-55 set, and know whether it fits or not? Or would someone who has the Miniarm set be willing to let me send the mask so they could test it for me? If the Miniarm wheels aren't compatible with the masks, I think I'm going to try and fix the Tamiya wheels, I have seen some people fix the ribs on the tires, but the reinforced hub will be tougher.

Could you not make your own masks by cutting out circles from a roll of masking tape or film? Then you can make them fit whichever wheels you have. Just seems easier than starting with the masks and buying a set of wheels to match them.
Olfa's circle cutter (I'm sure other manufacturers make equivalents) does the job pretty quickly.

Hello Robert, Have you ever used Quickwheel masks? they are fantastic in my opinion, and reusable, they save an incredible amount of time. Cutting 40 masks would take a lot of time, and for me warrants buying an aftermarket set if they fit with the Quickwheel mask, (I already have 2). I'm not sure how I would scratchbuild the reinforced hub on the Tamiya wheel yet, I really hope I don't have to, if the masks work with the Miniarm wheels. Hence the post , and I hope someone has the info I need.
I'm interested in the Miniarm wheels, because it looks like they have the smallest ribs on the sides of the wheels. if you look at photos of T-55 wheels the ribs are almost invisible:
All the other manufacturers have ribs that would be the size of 1 inch re-bar if you scaled them up (plastic kit included, just look at the ribs on the wheels of Takom kits for example...).

I compared the Tamiya wheels with one from the Miniart T-54 using my calipers. Size wise they are nearly identical, with any difference being in fractions. I think the mask will work. The Miniart grey does not photograph as well as the Tamiya green. Aside from a little flash, the Miniart has better small detail, and the proper molded ribs. The Tamiya wheels do have a better defined lip.

Thank you Randall, I had not thought about Miniart, I originally had asked about Miniarm, the resin replacement wheels. I think Quickwheel will probably do a specific mask for the Miniart kits also at some point. Being a T-54 wheel though, it still leaves me with the reinforced hub problem though, because the T-54 did not have the reinforced hub I think. Still, it presents another option, thank you.

That's what I get for not wearing my reading glasses while at the computer! Miniarm not Miniart! At least I was 4/7th right.
Can you ask Quickwheel about compatibility?

Yes, I did, I have not heard any response, so I thought I would try here also. Maybe they will come through though, they do sell the Miniarm wheels in their store, so they should have easy access to both.
