Hi All I just thought I would give you all a quick impression of two obscure kits I recently received from Great Models Web Store (They were the only place I could find them!)
First off is the M2A4 Light Tank from Ironside it is more of a conversion all in one box other than a true kit? It consists of a new Lower Resin Hull with a new Resin Rear Deck and a hollow cast turret (That uses some of the kit parts in it's construction), Rear Idlers and mounts, Main Gun and 30 Cal M1919 MG. The base kit is the Academy M3 Honey with the Excellent AFV Club Stuart Suspension set. It also uses the Academy individual track links. While it is not a cheap kit ($69.95) it is on par with buying all the stuff separately. The resin in my example is well cast and looks to fit with the intended parts well. ( Will Know more here when I get around to building it!)All in all I am satisfied with this kit!
The second one is the Best Value Models M1A1 Light Tank (M2 Combat Car) It again uses the Academy kit as its base kit with a replacement rear deck and a complete turret in resin as well as air cleaners and hoses and the MG's used as well all the resin is well cast. It uses the stock Academy suspension and Vinyl tracks, While it looks like it will make a nice model it will require more work that the Ironside kit. and I don't think it is a great value for it's price either as it was $59.95. But it is the only game in town for the M1A1 (M2 Combat car) out there?
I can take Photos of the contents if anyone would like them?
Cheers
Jeff Larkin
