Just wondering on the kit differences between the A and D version of Trumpeter's 1/35 Chinooks... Look at pictures and can't seem to make out where the 2 are different...

I would prefer building a "D" model as it is more up to date but the local hobby shop has an A model...and a good deal

Not sure what the kit differences are in 1/35 scale, but the real CH47A had different engines, early models of the A didn't use an intake screen, and there are subtle detail changes in things like antenna and cargo hook configurations among other external small detail changes. There are much bigger differences in avionics which externally can't be readily seen. I have the 1/72 A and D kits from Trumpeter, and they are quite different in the engine area, although the kits use the same fuselage.

Hi ,having built the D version a few years ago ,the major difference in the fuselage is the rear rotor tower on the D model has a flat surface and the A version comes to a point ,hope this helps ,Birchy UK

In addition to what the others have said, the A model had dual rear wheels where the D has single rear wheels.
