Has anyone noticed the flaw with the indi track links on trumpetrers
KV series?
As I was going over the instructions on my Trumpeter KV-8S
I noticed something odd about the the step on the instructions that pertains the the track assembly the links that go from the first and last road wheels that lead up to the to the idler and drive sprocket every other link does not have a center guide so I checked the links them selves and there are some with no center guides
has anyone else seen that issue
so that being said I am wondering if anyone has the 1 piece tracks from Tamiya's KV-1 or KV-2 kits they can spare?

Are you saying that it is a flaw that some links have no guide horns? There was track like that used on late KVs.

A lot of the later KVs used tracks with alternating horned and hornless links.

its only on every other link from the first road wheel to the idler and from the drive sprocket down to the last road wheel
the top and bottom runs all have guide horns

No they don't, if you look carefully you will see that the runs shown made up also alternate between guide horn and no guide horn links, correct for this particular vehicle.

my KV-8S has the alternating guide horns but only from the idler down to the first road wheel and from the last road wheel to the drive sprocket but the to and bottom runs have all the guide horns
i know you said alternating guide horns were common on late production KV tanks but isnt the KV-9S from the 1942 prduction run?

Anyone have a photo of the kit tracks?

The kit tracks should consist of several frets of individual links as shown in 9th pic here:
https://www.super-hobby.com/products/KV-8S-Welded-Turret.html#
you then make them up as alternative toothed and untoothed lengths for the complete run of the tracks as shown i section 5 of the instructions, note that although the top and bottom runs are shown made up you actually have to make them up yourself out of the individual links.

You should get 12 WT sprues in your kit - each with 8 track links with guide horns and 8 without. How many WT sprues do you have? Do you have some on which all 16 links have guide horns? In total you should have 96 links with horns and 96 without.

You are just supposed to build entire track run alternating between "horny" and "not horny" track links. If instructions show something else, just ignore them.

Yup, that's what the instructions tell you to do.

Yup (or Fruil, Masterclub etc.) if your bank balance allows it, sadly not everyones does.

But regardless of the above, which is for another discussion, the plans clearly show alternative toothed and untoothed made up sections.

Absolutely not. We just explained a lot of KV tanks used this kind of track configuration [and I like metal tracks]
