I did read about the fact that the Soviets did have plans to have East German forces enter Czechoslovakia in 1968, but cancelled the idea at the last minute. But what actually happened? Did East German equipemtn ever actually enter Czechoslovakia at all?

According to latest research, DDR NVA never enter Czech Republic, only being ready for action behind the border. According to these research, 13th Mot Schützen Division and 7th Panzer Division werwe only kept in reserve, just-in-case. Only some staff personal and recon troops enter the Czech Territory.
So fortunatly no NVA T-54/55 on the Prague streets.

The answer is Radio Yerevan: Yes, but...

Well, the combat units were hold back in East Germany, but a few NVA staff elements moved into Czech to keep up communication lines with the Soviet forces.

I wondered if NVA forces had gone in, would the locals be shocked at the appearance of German soldiers, or merely regard them as another set of Soviet puppets.
