I'm making my first Italeri kit, the M7 Priest and I was wondering something. By and large I like the fit and finish of the kit, altough there are some ejector marks and such that have to be delt with. I've finished putting the bogeys together, the main gun assembly, and the drivers compartment. My question is are all Italeri kits numbered like this one? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to how the pieces are numbered on the sprues. I might be spoiled by Tamiya where each sprue has a different letter and the part is given a number like C5 to mean part 5 on sprue C. I seem to be spending as much time finding the parts on the sprues as I am anything else.

Remember that Italeri is the King of mix and match sprues. The Priest has running gear and lower hull sprues that are also found in all of their Sherman kits, the M32 TRV, as well as the Kangaroo (Priest without gun). The 105mm gun in the kit is also sold separately with wheels as the M101 105mm howitzer (#319).

Yes - the early Italeri kits are numbered in this manner...

I hadn't noticed that before. I just looked at the Chaffee kit and the part numbers seem to be organized by sprue. I'll have to look at some of the older ones when I can dig them out.

Roger, Try doing their StugIV the plans are numbered but not the sprues at all,you have to look at the plan remember the shape then go to the drawings at the begining and match it up, then to make matters worse they misprinted the numbers on mine If I had followed their method I would have had a 75mm sticking out of the suspension :-) good luck

Roger,if you are gonna use the kit tracks,be careful Those kit tracks are very tight They sometimes will snap off an idler or sprocket They also have a tendency to curl up the forward and rear bogie mounts if you have them working
