Hey there guys,
I am looking for a model to build, and I can't think of a better place to ask.
Here's my dilemma, my uncle is a WW2 Vet. He was In the Army, in the Pacific Theater. He saw action in the Phillipines, The Mariannas (these 2 I remember because he mentions them the most), and a number of other Islands. From what he has told me, he basically landed on an island, evicted the enemy, went onto the next. He doesn't go into detail that much. The way i remember him mentioning the mariannas, is because he and his buddies were watching the airshow, and a plane that they cheered getting shot down they found it to be American. The Phillipines, is because he landed in the boat on the beach just before MacArthur.
Now most info and models I come across for the Pacific Theater, mainly deal with the Marines.
I build mostly modern US Armor & Aircraft.
I'd be very grateful if anyone can steer me towards any kits of either landing craft, tanks, or whatever else might have been used by the Army in the Pacific.
Thanks
Joe

You can use any of the LVT kits from Italeri (there are conversions to make the LVT2 and LVTA2 from Trakz)...and Italeri has announced an LCM for the fall of 2004 so that could be cool ....There is a smaller landing craft made by a French Company but the comments about this kit are not very good...As for the Tanks the Army seems to have used alot of M4A1's and Late composite M4's ..with M4A3 coming in later .No or very few 76mm Shermans were used in the Pacific.Hope this helps out a bit .

Why donīt you build a Corsair? They provided a very important role supporting the troops on the ground..Tamiya has a great Corsair!
