Hi all
I'm currently building this version of the BMP-3 and would like to paint it in the three-tone camo used for the deployment to Kosovo.
Trumpeter tells you to use brown for the running gear but from the few reference pictures online I don't think it's correct.
Here is a link to some pictures: http://sibnarkomat.livejournal.com/14894273.html
Can any member help me find the right color?
TIA

I know nothing about this vehicle. But, from the photos, I would go with Tamiya NATO Black or Vallejo Black Grey.

I "borrowed" one of the images for discussion purposes.
I get the impression that the brown and very dark ("black" ?) fields from the upper hull continues down on the chassis and if that is correct the road wheels should be the same colour as the chassis behind them (don't want circles in different colours standing out).

Robin,
I thought the same too. Unfortunately I don't have better pics.
But as stated by Matt, a dark grey or black running gear would be logical as the UAE battalion being part of the French brigade adopted the "French" camo.

The roadwheel in front of what I think is a brown field on the lower chassis certainly looks very dark (certainly not light brown) so I would say that it is "black".
If UAE adopted the French pattern to 100% then the running gear would be black.
Is the French camouflage all black on the lower chassis/hull as well or does the topside pattern extend downwards behind the wheels?
If nobody can find any better images it will be very difficult to prove that 'all black' is wrong anyway

Robin,
the French pattern does not extend behind the wheels which are systematically painted black.
I'll try to find better pics but it looks to be a real challenge.

We agree that it appears to be black, you wouldn't want brown wheels standing out on a black backing and the French systematically painted the lower hull black.

So OK for a black lower hull and running gear. If I'm bashed by a judge in a model contest, I'll quote you both
