Have a lead on a Type 63-2 APC for cheap-ish. I want to build a Vietnamese one. I know they had the initial production ones, did they ever get the -2 ? (From what I remember the initial batch were clunkers and the Chinese dumped them on their neighbors just to be rid of them) Looks like back dating the kit should be easy ... fair over two roof hatches, a few pistol ports and vision blocks on the side ... but why do work I don't need to if not needed.

From what I've read, the Chinese never exported the Type 63-2 version. In fact, you can always use that kit to depict the 1989 Tiananmen Square uprising. Bronco even stopped listing that kit online.

You're probably best off just getting the actual Type 63-1 kit, which is readily available.

Thanks. I kinda thought the -2 came along after the Chinese and Vietnam 'unfriended" each other. Project got canned, deal on the kit fell through. Was planning on using it for a kind of "what-if" by replacing the TC hatch/ machine gun with a 107mm rocket launcher, making a mini MLRS. I've seen nor heard of any evidence of it, but the Vietnamese had both parts and I have seen photos of similar combos. One that comes to mind is a captured US M-101 105mm mounted on the back of a Zil or Ural 6X6 as a SPG. Put the idea in my pending file.

If this page of Broncos online catalogue is anything worth taking seriously they do NOT seem to have stopped listing the Type 63-2. It's right smack in the middle of the page:
http://www.cn-bronco.com/en/products.php?page=32
In fact it is listed twice, once with English text and once with Chinese text:
The product page with English text:
http://www.cn-bronco.com/en/productsd.php?gid=&pid=586
and the page with Chinese text:
http://www.cn-bronco.com/en/productsd.php?gid=&pid=1137
I can't guarantee that the texts have the same factual content since I can't read a single word (or sign) of Chinese.

If all else fails there seems to be a few to be found on ebay as well, Chinese vendors, HongKong, UK, US, France, Australia.
Three searches using slightly different search strings.
