Finally!! A large scale Vidalwagen!! I had to scratch build my own three years ago, I never thought anybody would release a mainstream kit of one-- guess it proves that if you want an obscure kit, scratchbuilt one and it will be sure to released!! Thanks TAKOM! Now can we get the dolly for the launch stand and the command track launch control vehicle?

Russ that kind of thinking still has not worked for the Mack NO in 1/35th.

I guess you're right Michael-- it's another of my favorites too...I need one for my 155mm. Let's see- you've scratch built one-- maybe if a few of us start scratch building a couple more, TAKOM will add an NO alongside their new M31!! I never understood why Mirror Models released a Diamond T when they just as easily could have released an NO. TAKOM, are you listening? An NO to tow a captured Vidalwagen or Meillerwagen would be great!

Would not be surprised at all if they release some of the support vehicles for the V2. Really making a name for themselves of late.

Did they already produce a Meillerwagen? Sorry, I've been rather distracted lately and haven't been keeping up with the newer releases. I'd really like to see them release a Feuerleitpanzerfathrzeug so that a Pennemunde dio might be possible.

There was a post here on Armorama about a year ago now--The Meillerwagen, V2, and SS100 combo kit has been out for nearly a year now. The box art is totally inaccurate, but the kit inside is nice, although it has some areas that can be improved-- it retails for $55-$70 USD, depending on where you buy it-- but at that price it's worth the money for the three kits in the box. The SS100 has the wrong tires though. I hope the Vidalwagen combo is a little less, because there really wasnt much to the real Vidalwagen, unlike the real Meillerwagen.

Dude, it might be time to stop doing drugs. You replied to a thread on the Meillerwagen kit back in October of last year.

Where'd the SS thing come from? Anyways, it's cool to see the V-2 with its truck and trailer and I'm hoping that it will be followed by the armoured cab launch vehicle and perhaps a fuel truck or two. Support vehicles are the ticket to any dio that perports to show a launch at Peenemunde. I don't know enough about the rocket program to know positively if the trailer provided was actually what was used to launch in the field, or simply a transporter. Either way, BIG & COOL!
Just say no, man.

Hi. regarding other material used...
Conversions were already available from LEAD WARRIOR.
Conversions:
LW 35222 Feuerleitpanzer fur V-2 Raketen Sd.Kfz.7/3 ( w/INTERIOR )
LW 35223 Feuerleitpanzer fur V-2 Raketen Sd.Kfz.7/3
LW 35019 'Opel-Blitz', V-2 Rocket T-StoffTankWagen
Full Kit:
LW 35020 Kfz.385 V-2 Rocket B-StoffTankWagen
Seems they are hard to get. But the company has a very friendly approach for giving loads of information about their modelling subjects. PDF files with detailed drawings of construction and parts. Excellent for scratch building.
About the SS100, I would like to see some good AM for the SS100 engine compartment.
Kind regards,
Robert Jan

So I have the box on my workbench, the postman did bring it today. The sprue looks very good to me, will start the build in the upcomming hollidays. Will write a building review on the site of the DMMB look there on the following link : http://www.dmmb.info/t12518f301-TAKOM-The-VIDAL-transporter-for-the-A-V-rocket.html#msg185500 greetings Bert

Bert,
Ill be following your build of the Vidalwagen. I haven't decided yet if I want to buy the Vidalwagen, since I scratch built one already for my Dragon V2 (which is fairly inaccurate). I'm not sure if its worth the trouble to build another Vidalwagen. I might get another SS100 to tow it though, since that kit is available separately. How are the "guardrails" that wrap around the rear of the Vidalwagen-- id think they'd be a little flimsy-- I made mine from brass rod. Mine probably lacks some of the surface detail of the kit--here is a link to an article I wrote on my Vidalwagen for Large Scale Planes:

Russ, your scrachbuild Vidal looks perfect, for shore when you now that it is build based on very limited information, my compliments. The Takom Vidalwagen is the copy of the only one left in the world, at Cosford airbase England. They made a good fitting model of this trailer but it is not compleet. With some small scratching you can make it a good example as in use on Operation Backfire at Cuxhaven Germany in 1945. Alittle more work has to be done to make a operational version . If you take a good look at the pictures I did post on the DMMB forum you will see all the things I have made to transfer it in to the operational version. Greetings Bert

Thanks Bert. I used your site for reference when I built my Vidalwagen, along with photos of the Cosford example, and the 1/72 Special Hobby kit. I know I too have some errors-- especially in the tires which are incorrect, but at the time I didn't have any access to 1/35 German trailer tires. It's also a little soft in the Missile tie-down mechanism details. I'm not fully understanding what you mean by the DMMB site-- is that a forum someplace? Can you provide a link?

It's a German forum where Bert posts his builds of both the Meillerwagen and the Vidalwagen. The build-log is here:

Yep-- I realized that Bert had shared the site with me before the holidays, but my age has caught up with me and I had forgotten what the site was-- thanks for clarifying though!
