I'm starting a new model- M1165GMV Polish Special Forces (Jednostka Wojskowa Komandosów). The base will be the "Academy" M1151 model. The model will be based on a special conversion that has been going on for more than two years.
Photos of photo etched parts will be available by the end of the this week.
This will probably be the first model of this vehicle in the world

Hi Piotr -
I'm looking forward to another one of your projects! The etch work shown is very nice. I just finished a truck like this (see the scratch and conversion thread, by Michael Koenig) but without the detail kit - I wish I had it! I used the academy base kit too - the rest is scratch built and left overs from other kits. The etch front bumper you show is really nice! Good luck on the project -
Cheers
Nick

Hi Piotr -
I'm only on the cell phone today, so not sure how to cut/copy a link. So, if you go to the Armorama home page and look to Popular Blogs (I think that's the name - the green box) take a look at Conversions and Scratch Builds - by Michael Koenig, and the truck, build and done is shown on pages 16 and 17. There are lots of other really nice builds posted - a great to see how others do some pretty inspiring work!
I'm looking forward to your build - always great work!
Cheers

Very interesting vehicle, I like the addition of custom PE goodies. Is that a second gas tank on the left hull side?

Thanks for the clarification.
The PE is made to fit Academy model? Is the PE available to purchase?

It is specially made to M1151 Academy and fit perfectly.
This is done by my colleague and will probably appear on sale in a while.

Very nice. Does your friend have idea to offer other PE sets for Humvee? Some of those ammo racks would come in handy for many versions.

Maki- He has already made a rear shelf to the M1025 dumvee, box holder for ammunition boxes (dumveeM1025). I think he could produce what you want ...

Hi Piotr -
It appears that you and I are building different versions of this truck! Thanks for the nice words. You know, with so many versions of the M1165A1 running around, there are just as many versions to make! I did some homework on my build before I started, specifically referring to images I purchased from Rob Skipper a few years ago, and some in theater images. As the source of the operational photos is unclear to me, I opted not to show them in the other post - I've cropped one and included some from Rob to clarify what I built:
Above you'll see the distinctly different elements of the truck - specifically the bed rails, and tools on the hood.
Unhappily, I'm good and jealous of the etch materials you are using - they look great! I though used scraps from the left over etch pile, lead foil, wire and whatever I could find to illustrate the intent, maybe "demonstrating convincing realism", and no, likely not perfect (lol) - below, a couple of pics of the truck in use, in fact, the first inspired the overall look of the build:
And there you have it - we arent building the same thing! lol - I'm really looking forward to your build - I really like your work very much -
Sorry, didn't mean to disrupt your build blog! again, I am really looking forward to it!
Cheers and happy model building!
Nick
