Looking closer to Rob G.'s M113A3 walkaround pics, I've noticed for the first time (better late than never) that there seems to be an additional armor plate welded (or bolted ?) on the upper part of the sloping hull front (level with the headlights clusters) with a cut out for the left lifting ring. Is it a standard A3 feature or an upgrade? This plate is also noticeable on Tamiya "hybrid A2/A3" M113 kit box-art. Any pics showing the shape of this plate would be welcome.
TIA
Frenchy
PS here's what I am talking about :

Yes, it is a one inch thick steel plate. It comes in two sections, one from the left side of the hull to the trim vane support latch and the other goes from the support latch to the right side of the hull. It is only on m1 M113A3 vehicles and not on the late M113A2-based M1064 mortar track.
I can take photos of it if you wish, but I did not bring my camera in today so it will have to wait until tomorrow.
Also of note, some of my M113A3s have non-slip coating on the top and others do not.

Thanks in advance for all the help you can bring me Rob ! I know there's nothing new saying this but your Motorpool is the place to go to when it comes to modern US stuff !
Thanks for the tip about non-slip coating : just one more thing I will have to add to my Academy/Tamiya kitbashed Engineer M113....along with (too) many others
My patience is (almost) endless, so there's no hurry for you to help me...
Thanks
