Hi guys,
For my Napoleonn dio I,ve beenn googhlinng my head off for a 1/32 or 1/35 canon. Found one but that's a complete set with figures, horses etc.
For a new Western dio I,m looking for a Us civel war period wagon. Since both the canon and the wagon will be 'wrecked' I want them to be not too expensive.
Can't find either one of tbem.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried Ebay? I see a lot of cannon sets by a company called IMEX.

Imex does 54mm/1-32 scale American Civil War artillery and wagons. They also do American War of Independence cannon which are easily adapted to Napoleonic. Italeri also does a Napoleonic wagon and cannon. Various toy soldier companies do cheap Napoleonic cannon. Marx did a Civil War medical wagon. Check eBay under 1/32 cannon and Civil War wagon .
Try Michigan Toy soldiers.
Or if you want to spend $100 or so I have a Historex cannon or regimental wagon.

Knowing your advanced skills Hans, I would have thought you could scratch most of it out of balsa – handy for shattered-wood effects if they’re going to be wrecked anyway. I guess the barrel's the more difficult part – handy with a lathe or know someone who is? You did say not expensive

How about using spoked wheels from Tamiya field kitchen?
I build a cannon during my job training. O.k. it was made of metal and larger than 1/35 scale. But I think I can make you a turned gun barrel if you need to. Most recently, Veste Coburg castle opened an artillery exhibition, Iand I think they have a Gribeauval cannon there, So I can take some research.
Cheers
Hans-Hermann
P.S. Have you considered Playmobil figures. I know they make a cannon for US Cavalry. But I think is more 75 mm scale.

Hmmm.... careful here Hans. The American Civil War 12lb "Napoleon" smoothbore Cannon is a lot different than a "Napoleonic" era Cannon. The Napoleonic era cannon owes its design and lineage more to medieval period guns than it does to the more modern 19th century guns of the American Civil War Period. Napoleonic guns were developed during the 18th Century, and typically had two trails, one on either side of the trunnions, with an equipment box between the trails, whereas the 12 lb Napoleon gun (and many of its lighter weight brethren) had a single trail with trunnion "cheeks" mounted on each side of the trail. Napoleonic era gun barrels also typically had additional barrel "bands" or ornamentation for strength. So I'd stay away from US Civil War guns, which were typically without bands or ornamentation. The Historex "Napoleonic era" gun is probably the best suggestion, but the Imex American Revolutionary War gun is also good-- although I believe Imex uses a Vinyl-like soft plastic. Both are in 54mm (1/32) scale as I recall. There are also some soft metal "presentation castings" of Napoleonic guns out there that may be available. I toured the Waterloo battlefield several years ago, and remember they had several styles and scales in thier gift shop. You may also also be able to find some older Imrie-Risley, Elastolin, Britains or other 54mm miniature Napoleonic gun sets on eBay.

thanks for all your tips. I will try Imex first. I only need the canonbarrel. As for the wagon, lots of tips too. I will let you know when I got the right stuff. As for scratchbuildinng (diomartin), I'm better at scratchwrecking

And they're getting more rare by the day and you'll be lucky to find one for less than $50.
Italeri and Armies in Plastic, A Call to Arms all make soft plastic Napoleonic cannon, French and British at least.
British guns in the Napoleonic era had single trails and cheek mounts. Napoleonic cannon owed more to Gustavus Adolphus than the Middle Ages.

A Call to Arms has a british canon. Will do, I only need the barrel. Shipmentcosts are high so I will wait for the next Veldhoven-modelbuilders show. Hope I will find it there.
The US wagon is still a problem

Building a wagon is very very easy. It's jut a box really. The wheels are the hardest part. Do you have any old Italerei or Tamiya German wagons lying around to use for wheels ? Plus, bear in mind, the British guns during the Napoleonic time had just one trail, just like the Civil War guns and also a pretty similar tube as well. Food for thought.

I had the same idea; get wheels anywhere you can and then build the wagon out of balsa and then wreck it.
I believe Scale-Link in the UK has some white metal wagon wheels in their railroad section.
You might also check out Wiseman Model Services in the US. Keith offers many white metal kits in O scale that might work for you. He does all his own casting so he should be willing to sell wheels separately from the kits.
Best of Luck

Yep, but what many companies in the US and GB offer you with low prices they take back by charging you impossible shipment costs.
