In most cases all you have to do is aim the gun barrel horizontally, and ,viola!, an AT Flak 88. But seriously, in some pics of Afrika Korps 88's, they are just situated on the desert surface without any revetments or cover and their guns are levelled horizantally. They were situated similarly in Barbarossa. In the fluid battles of both campaigns time often was not available to build prepared positions. Later you could find 88's in a variety of earth pits, log structures, hidden in ruins, etc. Because of the Flak 88's high silouette, most emplacements were about 11/2 meters deep with the dug-out earth piled up behind the pit. or alternately, a lot of camouflage to break up the shape of the gun shield.
