Hi guys,
I am quite confused about RAL 7028. Germans are supposed to have used two shades of RAL 7028 (RAL 7028 and RAL 7028 Ausgabe 1944). RAL 7028 Ausgabe 1944 is supposed to be more grey/green (darker) but when I take a look at late war color photos and B&W photos it seems a very light color. What is the reason for this? Am I missing something?
Regarding RAL 6011 Resedagrün I didn't read anything in Chory's or other books. Can someone provide some information regarding it. From late war color photos I've seen the green doesn't seem to be olive green but more like a lime green. Is that Resedagrün?
Thanks in advance,
Angel

Maybe this link could offer some help about Resedagrün?

The Dunkelgelb is more difficult, this link has information in German about it:
http://www.militaerlacke.de/lack/1kkunstharzlacke/wehrmacht/ral7028dunkelgelb.php
Brief summary, ausgabe 1944 is more or less the same as the dunkelgelb that was standardised before the war and used until the end of 1941, then came another dunkelgelb and ausgabe 1944 made a come back in 1944.
Actually determining exactly which colour a specific vehicle was carrying at a specific date is almost impossible.
Stocks of paint may have remained and been used, old stocks brought out again when the new deliveries had run out, vehicles painted before a specific date were not repainted when the specifications changed (Hey, Ivan! Can we take a break while we paint our tanks in the latest fashion?)
Mig has two verions where the ausgabe 44 is closer to Khaki (rather light) than the usual dunkelgelb, both have a greyish tone but large differences in yellowishness.

Thanks Robin.
I have AK late war paint set and they have two RAL 7028 which I suppose are the same as Ammo's.
What I don't understand is if RAL 7028 ausgabe 1944 is darker than the 1943 RAL 7028 how is that in the photos you see a lighter shade? If someone could shed some light on it I would really appreciate it. The same with the lighter green that can be seen in late war color photos.
Regards,
Angel

Photos can sometimes be unreliable since the lightness/darkness depends on how the black&white emulsion on the photographic film reacts to different colours. If the unknown object in the b/w photo can be compared to the colour of known object then it gets a little easier. The Swedish national flag (light blue with a yellow cross looks like the Finnish flag, white with a blue cross, on old photographs).
Colour photos can also give the wrong impression since their relative sensitivity to colours is not the same as the human eye.
Maybe less yellow gives a "darker" colour even if the paint chips seem to be "lighter" ?
When I look at the two paint bottles on Mig's pages I get the impression that ausgabe 44 is much lighter than the mid war version but maybe that's just my eyes (or computer screen)
