We don't get to see many US army vehicles in Belgium, but there's one exception. Sometimes I see these HUGE transport trucks on the highway. On top of their cabin, there's a spoiler that is marked with large "37" figures. I think the number refers to a transport unit ? They have been around for ages, but recently they started using new truck types. Wow.
Can anyone tell me where they are stationed ? Would they have a website ?

I was curious to find out more about this unit and about the new Freightliner M915A3...
So after cruising around on the web for about an hour I found all about 37th Transcom
So all I needed to find was a pic of these huge trucks I keep meeting on the highway since a few weeks. Finally, I found a link on the ML site.... by Rob Gronovius !!!
When I clicked on that ... I arrived at Armorama ! Home sweet home. Seems Rob had posted pics of this baby all along and I didn't know yet. Sorry Rob, and thanks !

BTW : those CARC paint schemes are incredible. One moment I zoomed past three of these babies on the highway... One minute later I checked in the mirror and it was as if they went up into smoke. They really blended into the background foliage.
All I could see from a distance was their headlights and it was broad daylight !

Danny,
Sorry, but the pics named M915A3 are for me pictures from M916A3. All this trucks have a winch rear the driver cab and are towing a M870 trailer.
Normaly the M915A3 has a 2 inches king pin and thr M870 king-pin is bigger. Perhaps Sabot can help us in this way ??
Regards.

I had 3 of the trucks for a couple of weeks. Some Freightliner reps trained up several instructors on them and those instructors went back to the units with the trucks to train their folks (train the trainer concept). The trucks should be back here by the end of the summer, but none right now.
Shame on you for not checking my motorpool pictures first Jan!

Military trailers are pulled one of two ways, by a tow pintle (present on all tactical vehicles) or a kingpin. It is also refered to as a fifth wheel or sometimes a "dove tail" and requires a tractor truck like the 5 ton tractors or the line haul trucks. HETs are examples of kingpin type trucks.

Thanks, I knew that, yet obviously didn't know it as well. Does that make sense? I built the M26 and the Faun and always referred to the fifith wheel. Thanks for the info. I'll stick this one into my running lexicon.
Thanks again Jack
