This is probably old news to most but I ran across this and thought I would share it with everyone..
Now if there a kit out there for this I just might put a plane aside for a while and give this a try

Its the same set up you will see on an atv.. drove past a dealer last week and saw an atv on tracks.. cool set up i will say.. gives some additional ground clearance and increases the mobility..

Lookslike the old UNA-TRACK system tested in the early 1970s. It didn't work very well then and I doubt it works any better now. Even with power steering, you'd need the strength of Hercules to turn these at low speed -- that's if the front end didn't twist itself off.

Hello every one
If your looking for more info. have a look on this site
http://www.mattracks.com/html/military.htm
Before power steering was invented you where taught to roll the vehicle and
steer at the same time so that steering was made easier due to less friction
between the road and tires. If you are parked and you start to steer left to right in
the parked position even with today's power steering you are exerting a lot of
force on the steering mechanism, as compared to letting the vehicle roll slightly.
Cheers
Ralph

I saw these on that show Tactical to Practical. They did a comparison with a 4wd truck and one with the mattracks climbing a sand dune....the mattrack-ed one kicked the 4wd's butt!
