Hello Armoroamers,

My next project is going to be Trumpeter's 1/35 SA-6 Gainful (00361). As I'm not particularly fond of the camouflage options included (two Russian and an East-German in monochrome, a Polish and a Czech in tricolor), I would rather be going for a slightly different finish. Something along this Tanzanian example that was apparently designed to blend into the melting snow environment of the Kilimandjaro:

Should you have any ideas, please do share.
TIA,
Israel

Another option : here's the upgraded 2K12-2D version :

But I guess the camo scheme may be the manufacturer idea

You should also check out the aftermarket updates that SP Designs has for the "three fingers of death".This will be something I will be looking forward to seeing what it looks like in the end.

That's certainly a (rather cool) possibility. I wonder whether the upgrade is internal only (electronics). In that case I could use my kit...

Without giving too many details (which of course would be disheartening to you), there are captured SA-6 from the Libyans, in the 80's. The camo on those vehicles pretty much had the same central theme of overall light grey with darker gray stripes going from left to right, over the vehicle, about every 2 or 3 feet apart from bow to stern. Not much to go on, but it is a known scheme. Another words...a zebra pattern. The markings were few...with a rifle scope crosshair in black, with a leaping tiger also in black, within those crosshairs. None of the projectiles were present.

Trumpeter announced one recently.

Too bad they won't fix the missiles on the SA-6 launcher, though (training rounds and thus much too narrow). IIRC, there's also an issue with the position of the wheels, they need to be pushed back somewhat.

I don't know what exactly you mean by that, but I've spent two evenings putting together the tracks: they're of the link and length variety that don't click together - I simply hate those. Besides, the instructions call for two identical setups, when in reality that's impossible because this chassis has torsion bar suspension with offset road wheels. Trumpeter lets you figure that out yourself...

I kinda like this (apparently) LSD inspired Romanian example...
