Hi all, Just thought I'd post my recently finished Crusader Mk III. No overall plan as of yet for the build but it is ready for Primer.

Wonderful how that old Italeri kit has held up. A few detail parts on the inside of the hatched and it looks as good as it did 30 years ago. A real classic. Also looking forward to seeing it painted.

Hi guys, I'm also looking forward to painting it. Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure/misfortune of building the older Italeri kit, as it's abit before my time I'm afraid.

This IS the old Italeri kit with a new sprue adding details and correcting the front fenders. Same plastic but for a handful of changes.
Amazing how well it has held up. I have built the mark I iteration and have a Mark II and III to go.

Yes sorry, I was aware however I thought people meant the original tooling. my mistake.
I've recently inherited my late fathers stash and it has various crusaders/cruisers and other British tanks. I've no doubt I'll end up spending a small fortune on acessories for them.

Be aware, that Crusader IIIs would have been painted either SCC.2 Service Colour (fresh dogsh!t brown)or BS.61 Light Stone out of the factory and not any shade of green. Machines destined for North Africa would be Light Stone and those for units kept in England would be SCC.2 Brown.
Those are pretty much your only choices. On top of those basic colours would be added a disruptive camo colour, but the underlying vehicles were those two colours.

Thanks, admittedly this is based off of the early test vehicles which were tested in England painted as such. Pictures do exist on google but they are very rare.(Using abit of Artistic license ~ As with all my builds)

Hey all, A coat of Pledge later and the paint is sealed. I'm pretty happy with how close I was able to get the colour.

Hi gents, I've gone with the 26th as per stated above. standard marking of 52 for it however it has the Tunisia markings of the 6th, hence the white triangle and not the red.
Chipping finally finished, satisfied with how it looks but it could be better.

What's the co-ax? Looks a bit odd for the standard Besa.
I've never come across any detail on the green paint used so can't be sure if it was old stock or from a non-standard source.

I haven't a clue if it's standard, I made a comparison between the kit version and the brass add-on and they were the same.
As to perfectly colour grading the green I'm not too worried as I've heard several Horror stories from former REME that the paint is usually thinned with petrol and painted on with rags...

Thanks gents, There are a few things to touch up as you may have noticed but some superglue/effects were still drying.
(Spade,Tracks,Lever on hatch - all to be polished off)
Going to use one of the new provided figures in fancy grey sprue, work will be alot slower now though. I'm going to start on another. still haven't decided what though....
