read that they're not exactly accurate. so, seeing as how shapeways has a set thinking on getting them. thing is, they look very close to kit roadwheels. also, comparing those with dragon and tamiya's roadwheels, there doesn't seem to be any difference in width or tire thickness from the rim to surface. would it be worth replacing with shapeway's? thx

First of all they are not "shapeway's". They are mine. Shapeways just prints them and handles the sales logitics. But the design is mine and you can buy them from my store at Shapeways "marketplace".
If you don't see a difference between Tamiya tires (which are early type) and Panda tires then you probably shouldn't bother - the difference in real life was also small. I offer the set for the most hardcore rivet counters. There are two options - the cheaper is a set of tires/rim faces only for outer wheels. You use the kit parts for inner wheels. For consistency those wheels have the same tire width as the kit part, but the tire is slightly thicker and the diameter of the rim face is slightly smaller. The more expensive set includes tires for all wheels and they are narrower than the kit wheels.
By the way, what Dragon wheels you use for comparison? From which kit?

knew they were yours, but found them on shapeways since they were the source. M1A1 AIM 3535. the one thing not similar to any of them is the undercut on the panda wheels

True, Panda kit is the only one with this feature. Of course my parts retain it.
AIM kit wheels are late type, just like the ones in the Panda kit, so indeed ther are pretty much the same dimensionally.

while not a real rivet counter, I think there should be SOME modicum accuracy in kits. it boggles how some things can be missed, however minor . so it looks like you'll be out another full set
