sorry but I see this as another rivit review forum with a new name.
Why couldn't the rivit review forum be revampted? I just think that a lot of time and effort have gone into simply duplicating what is already there.
this is just my two cents worth and is my personal opinion only and is not meant to hurt or criticise any one at all.
as an edit to the above I now realise that this is a forum from an already set up rivit review forum and I would like to welcome those folk to the site. How ever my opinion still stands I am afraid.

Cliff,
This forum is looked at as a "hosted" forum. Sort of like if a SIG (special interest group) were to contact me and ask for their own forum. They would be able to run that forum as they chose with minimal involvement from myself or the staff. Another example would be if the guys at TWENOT approached me and said "Jim we really hate Network54. Can we host our forum on your site?". Sure! We would not dump our existing forum or ask that all Dutch posts go in the TWENOT forum.
Scott, Bryan and I are still figuring out all the details. It may be that this new forum concentrates on aircraft. In which case we would try to drive RR aircraft posts there. Or it may be all inclusive of any type of model. In any case if the RR were to decline in this scenario I would likely phase it out in favor of the CC forum.
Thanks for the input.
Jim

i agree with roo on this one,
to me it seems like it will be the same as the RRR, whether its just hosted here or not.
i have no problem with other groups having forums here, as long as they dont take over from our own.
cheers

I, on the other hand, welcome it here. I do know that these guys do mostly aircraft, or should I say only aircraft. So, with that in mind, I feel no threat to our RRB which has mostly dealt with armor.
Even so, I look at it as another enticing venue to draw more members here, which in turn could draw more big name producers.
It will also be interesting to see how they run their show. Though I'm not too impressed with the "no show" from them so far. Hmmm... Perhaps it's too soon.

I can see logic in Cliff's comment.
But if the new review forum is mainly aircraft biased, then maybe the RRB can be for armour and warships and the like, and the new forum for aircraft.
Everyone's happy then.
Cheers

I'm really torn on this one. I understand Mr Roo's input, frankly I kind of thought the same thing myself, but I also think it's a real feather in Armorama's cap that another group want's to join en masse. I'm certainly ok with Jim adding more forums like this, as long as it doesn't stop him from not adding more forums the traditional way, i.e. based on user suggestions.

Ken - I have had some trouble reaching Scott thru his hotmail account so I assume he doesn't even have his login info/password as yet when I set up an account for him.

I like thew addition of new "hosted" groups, the more the merrier as it draws in more people. I just wonder if it might be the time to move A-UK into the main site as a special interest group? Merlin has done wonders getting the thing moving and it seems a shame for the articles there to be seperate from the main site. Just a thought.

I think that Martin's suggestion is a good one. I too would like to see the AUK here on the main site.

Hi there
I agree with Ken that the addition of Critic's Corner should be a positive thing and will, hopefully, bring with it some new members and help raise Armorama's profile.
The non-show is a little surprising; hence my trying to get the ball rolling with a Spitfire thread. I don't normally post in the RRB, but the best way to welcome the CC guys is to use their forum.
I also agree with Martin and Dave; it would be far preferable to be able to bring A-UK onto the Main Site. Although I, obviously, feel a certain attachment to A-UK, as it stands, there's no denying it does mean a lot of duplicated effort and I think everyone would really prefer to have everything under "one roof". It's seemed the logical move ever since Jim first mentioned "Regions".
All the best
Rowan

i think moving A-uk to here would be great.
most of my time here is from work, where i cant access the msn groups.
i dont have much time at home for the internet, so i dont visit A-uk anywhere near as much as id like.
i would love to see it as a forum here!
cheers

I agree with Joe,
its exactly the same situation re: work access and time at home.
At work I have the site tuned in most of the time....
So yes I'd love to see A-UK here....kill 2 birds with one stone.
Cheers
