Hey,

I'm playing with the idea of building a simple checkpoint vignette but am kind of stuck at the idea level...

More specifically, I'd like to include a small building, an old shed of some kind, nothing fancy. Would you have any ideas where to get plans for such a building? My main problem is, I think getting the proportions right for 1/35.

Thanks a lot!

Hi, Cristian

what place and time period are you trying to depict? Masterbox offers a sentry box, road barrier and figures appropriate for europe during world war II. Italeri does something similar for a modern setting, the figures are by Masterbox. Both are essentially dioramas in a box, just add scenery, vehicles, etc.

Thanks John! I'm looking for a nowadays setup but I'd like to build my own, not use one of the kits if possible.

There was a guy who did one similar on here from his journey. IIRC it was just a small shack 10'x10' concrete block if that big with rolled metal roof. Depending on region a bombed out, sand bag reinforced building could work.

Thanks! I think, I vaguely remember the thread. The last update must have been about two weeks ago.

You could also try your hand at making Hessco Bastions, the ECP's my unit ran in Fallujah were built around them, Jersey Barriers and Texas Barriers. On Facebook there is a page for ECP1A and there are tons of pictures guys took there, might give you some ideas. One thing you're going to want in a modern checkpoint is a Military Working Dog team and also think about including one or two women (in case there are women who need to be searched) if you're going for a Middle East theme.

Hi.

Normally I get my ideas for dioramas watching videos or pictures, then I do a quick sketch and work on that, polishing, improving or removing things or concepts that I think might work or not. Having a nice war documentaries collection is always a great aid, either for getting ideas or applying acurate details which will bring to life a diorama.

Have tried a google search for shed plans? Simple job to scale down to 1/35.

That's a lot of data, Agustin! Thanks for your generous offer!

I might get back to you on this topic but I'll have a look online first.
