Dragon released this version before, though they are saying they've improved some parts. However, these tanks all had Zimmerit, and judging from the illustration, it appears that Dragon is not planning to use the Zimmerit hull and turret parts on this release.
The 506th Battalion tanks, which included a small batch completed with the experimental, single-link track, were delivered before the Zimmerit coating was banned (as a suspected fire hazard) in September, 1944. The battalion lost about a third of its tanks in the autumn fighting around Aachen, and was brought up to strength for the Ardennes operation with new tanks that did not have the Zimmerit coating. However, these tanks had the conventional double-link track and nine-tooth drive sprockets.
The single-link track was a success, but stocks of the old track had to be used up first, so tanks with the new track did not reappear until March, 1945.
