Building Takom King Tiger with interior and am puzzled as to what the large box that sits on legs between the transmission and fighting compartment floor (on front to back axis) is for. Have spent hours trying to find out and now can't rest till I get an answer!

I think that would be a reasonable supposition.

David Parker wrote an excellent book on building the Tiger II.

David Parker wrote an excellent book on building the Tiger II.
He did indeed - it's called Superking and I used it extensively when I was building both Takom and Meng KT interiors.
Be warned - it's not cheap, but well worth the cost.
