Hi All, my first post.
I have done my homework, have several books, searched, but cannot find any reliable dimensional pictures of the Berge Panther winch. I hope to do a scale drawing of this, than print it out in 1/16 scale in anticipation of the Trumpy 1/16 Panther. Does anyone out there have any hints as to where I can find some drawings? Thanks, Brian

Have you tried the following book:
PANZER TRACTS No 16-1 Bergepanther Ausf D,A,G by Thomas Jentz & Hilary Doyle and Lukas Friedli
Many scale drawings and detailed photos.

Hi, Have that one and it is helpful. I am looking for a bit more detail. Even some detailed walk around would be great as I could scale up from there, but what find are just a few pics. Thanks!

References on the Bergepanther are few and far between. Not joking when I say you might have to consider traveling to France. The Museum there (Musée des Blindés, Saumur, MaineLoire, France) has a Bergepanther and they have removed the winch and placed it on a stand for separate display.
There are a number of photos of this display on the internet but most all are from similar angles.
Best of luck on your search, drawings and large scale build.

Saumur Bergepanther photos posted here but I suspect you have already found these.

G'day Brian
The following three books are probably among the best references available (all by Waldemar Trojca):
Tankpower PzKpfw. Panther Vol.4 ISBN 83-7237-051-6
Im Detail Bergepanther Teil 1 ISBN 3-925-480-55-2
Im Detail Bergepanther Teil 2 ISBN 3-925-480-92-7
The first one contains detailed walk around of the winch off the Saumur Bergepanther. Please note that all the text in the last two is in German.
I have a lot of other info also which may be useful - suggest you PM me.
Regards
Rob

Rob,
Thanks. Do not have those books (yet). I will check them out tonight, than get in touch with you. I am going to try an model the winch in Solid Works, this way I can easily scale to any size... Thanks for the help, I will be in touch, Brian

Hi again.
Does anyone out there have any direct measurements of the Berge Panther winch? I am trying to scale my CAD model.
Thanks!
Brian

Hi Brian, Wilst i do not have the measurments you asked, i have another option.
In the "In Detail" books are some very nice top views of the winch (inside a Bergepanther), Maybe you can enlarge them to become 1/16 scale. (218% that is BTW).
I once found a picture of the Saumur winch wich was taken almost if not total from the side. When you can make the picture and the side drawing to match, you already have two meassurments.
I did this for my 1/25 scale bergepanther, and (for me) it worked out fine. Now for the love of god I don't know where to find this one picture, i believe it was from a New Zealand modellers site.
Maybe This site is of some use;

Good luck with it.

Brian!
I have a reasonable set of dimensions, (if I can read my own scrawl). PM me.
Cheers,
Ian

Thanks. I can do that, but I would like to try and link my drawings to something tied to reality otherwise I may be just adding error to error. For the time being I am creating the model and will scale it when I get a dimension or two.
Thank!
Brian

Ian, Hi! I received you emails and the pictures are great. I think these dimensions will help getting the Berge Panther Winch scaled up. Been overwhelmed with Thanksgiving, but hope to work on the drawing this week. I'll post a screen grab of my progress this week.
Have a nice day, Brian

Hi again! Am still working on the Berge Panther winch. I cannot figure out how to post here, but I am posting on the FB Trumpeter 1/16 Panther Build site. Today I posted a screen shot of the hydraulic pump face. Doing this kind of stuff makes you learn a lot. If you are interested, there are great shots of the hydraulic pump in "The Research Squad Panther Project" book. Very detailed, if limited, book.
