Wow! What a sweet set! This is very welcome. I still have my old ESCI 1/32 Goliath team.

That was the first thing I thought of was the old ESCI set. Nice to see Tamiya getting back into figures again.

Indeed a welcome set, I'd be interested to see how it compares to Dragon's old kit (the last time anybody attempted the Goliath in plastic I believe).

I couldn't help but think of children playing with a RC tank when I first saw that box art.

So this is definitely new tooling and NOT the old Esci kit?

That would be nice, although I have the Esci that came with the Italeri SWS cargo truck.

I feared the same as others regarding the old Esci kit. If it's a new Tamiya kit and figures then it should be a good'un.

The old ESCI kit was not to bad, even by 21st century standards, was it?!

Nice to see a two-Goliath kit announced, pretty box-art too.
Now let's see what the actual sprues and built vehicle(s) look like.

Good Nintendo-player fig there!

Got a few diorama ideas for this kit . Was the trailer used to haul these things just a modified flak 30 trailer ? Does the Dragon kit come with the trailer or is there an after market kit available ?

Goldnova no the Dragon kit does not come with the trailer. Nor have I have seen an after market version there is a vary rare white metal version done by Scale Model accessories. This link also has the instructions: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/1000117-scale-model-accessories-ltd-smva-122-leichter-ladungstraeger-goliath-modell-b

It will be interesting to see the retail price, as DML's is still easily sourced at around $25 Cdn. It contains two identical sprues, which means you get doubles of two pretty decent figures. Tamiya's figs have been improving of late; this kit should prove to be popular. Personally, a set of "Springers" would have been neat.

I was under the impression that the Italeri boxing was the Esci mold.

If you check out thr reference number - 35357 German Assault Pioneer Team & Goliath Set, I believe any reboxing of other kit manufacturers does not start with 35 but with 37 so I'm of the opinion it's all Tamiya's own.

Assuming for the moment that this release is a Tamiya original I wonder how it compares with the Dragon offerings.

From the Tamiya Model Magazine FB page:

The parts are in grey as it is a pre-production kit / sample.
