Hello all,

I am looking for 12 mm (in 1/35th scale) yellow number decals with a white outline. Would anyone happen to know if any company manufactures these or how to obtain them?

Thanks!

If you are having trouble finding them maybe try the buy sell trade forum? I might have some. Maybe we could trade. Currently I am looking for red cross/ambulance markings, BC based WWII armour markings but open to other stuff. I live in Canada too.

Just curious, were these used on the early panzers?

To be honest, I have no idea where they were used. I wasn’t able to find any pictures with them, but I have a reliable source that the ones I’m specifically looking for were found on some Normandy Tiger Is.

Unless I'm missing something 12 mm (.5") in 1/35 scale would be less than 1mm in real size - about the size of a 1/35 .50 cal bullet. You can find some pretty small number and letter decals in various colors (including yellow) from Micro Scale. In that size a white surround on a yellow digit would be invisible. On the other hand, 12 mm tall numbers FOR a 1/35 vehicle would be about 1 1/2 scale feet. You might try Archer Transfers as they have number styles specific to panzers.

You might be thinking about SS PzAbt 101. I have seen AM decals in yellow and yellow with white outline so you may have to do some research if you cherish accuracy.

My apologies, 12 mm in 1/35 scale is 0.012 x35 meters in real life. I’ve checked archer transfers but they don’t seem to have this particular size. I’ve seen them in someone's work, but I can’t find where to obtain them.

Yes, it’s from that company. Any ideas which AM set you saw? Archer doesn’t have the correct size in yellow with a white outline.

This set has decals for various SS Tigers in France and one in particular
with yellow/white turret numbers but no mention of size.

Thank you for the link! So far this is the closest to what I need. The 205 there is the correct color and size, but I need 212 in the same format.

I just took a look at their decals too. A lot of really good stuff for German turrets, but I can't seem to find yellow/white 212.

Bison also did SS PzAbt 101, but no 212, and I don't think they are still around. Maybe you can ask Star Decals to do a custom for you?

I’ve looked through Bison as well, and they do Villers-Bocage decals, just not the 212. I’m starting to wonder whether yellow 212 is available anywhere other than custom printing.

Can't you find a set with the 2's and 1's of the right color that you could at least cut apart to make your own "212"? Are you saying nobody makes 1's or 2's in the colors you need? That is so odd.

I wouldn’t mind doing that at all if I could find 11/12 mm yellow 1s and 2s with white outlines. I just can’t find them yet. At least not in the correct size.

Well, then my next questions might be:

1. Are you sure what you saw on the other model was a decal?

Which leads to:

2. Have you considered masks or hand painting?

I’m fairly sure that it was a decal as it was 100% precise and reproduced three times on the vehicle. I’m not sure how I’d do masks or hand painting when the numbers have an outline. I’d never be able to get it to look perfect.

Well, the crews often hand painted theirs, and they didn't look as good as a decal when that happened. Just a thought in case nothing turns up.

Yea, true. I’m also considering doing all white numbers or something along those lines. It might be possible to slightly yellow them and then blend things in with weathering.
