Hey guys,
I'm going to show my ignorance here, but here goes my stupid question...is there a list of modeling terms and/or definitions somewhere on this site or elsewhere I can access?
I can figure out some of them, but every so often there is a term or acronym I just can't figure out. For instance...OIF (pertaining to figures, I think)...it's probably something really obvious, so go ahead and make me feel stupid...

Don't feel bad 11Charlie, OIF threw me the first few times I saw it. I don't think there is such a dictionary on this site. We could use one. Also an American to British translator, for terms like "white spirits."

If you click on the "RESOURCES" tab to the left (in the main menu), another menu shows up that lists a glossary of terms. We started this a long while ago, but it didn't get too far. Terms like OIF, ODS and such should be added.

Welcome aboard 11Charlie!! I think that you will find that the good thing about Armorama is there are no stupid questions and no one will "make you feel stupid." We try to leave that to the other modelling forums. "LHS" stumped me until I asked asked my wife and she said "Uh, Homer, it stands for Local Hobby Shop."

Yeah, do not feel bad...there are terms that I forget even though I have seen them hundreds of times. Everybody here is more than happy to answer any question.

I totally agree with Jurgen.
An excellent idea....as Armorama is like the United Nations of modelling it would be a great help to us all....not least me....I got stung yesterday with OD...olive drab!
as its there already lets expand it and use it. Plus it'll be a boon for members new to modelling.
Cheers
Peter

After this phrase I started up a word doc in wich I collected all the terms that popped into my mind. I have now about 20 additional terms that are not in the glossary of terms list at armorama.
Now we are with 4000 plus people here and I`m sure we can make it to a huge amount of terms all together. I want to ask you people to think together with me for more terms. Everything you know and is important or is a term please post it here. with a short description of what the term is.
I`m sure we can do some great stuff for that little forgotten corner of Armorama.

Don't feel bad 11Charlie. I had surfed all over the net and never even figured out what LOL meant until about a month ago.
Like Keenan said, here there are no stupid questions.
Welcome aboard!

“White Spirit” is the same as Mineral Spirit. I use it to clean brushes after painting, and shoot it through my airbrush to clean same.

It can also be used for taking paints out of your skin but it needs care cause it causes irritations, and breathing problems if no good ventilation is present. Its cheap and cleans most of paints for good. It has a distinctive heavy smell also .
