First set-up of my new project. Far from ready. Us Cavalry crossing the river in full attack. (Couldn't resist the Grizzly....). Horses painted in oil (not ready). Spashing water will be a challenge. Thinking of adding the DEF-model running hounds too.

This will be fun to watch. Consider looking at Woodland scenic water products. I had success with plastic bag pieces reinforced with their flowing water gel.

Bear is a neat addition

Hi Hans. I like the idea you are pursuing. Is this the MasterBox set, eyes are that great anymore. One thing, I would remove the grizzly bear. Bear scent is very strong and if any horse caught a whiff of the bear there would be an uncontrollable stamped that no cavalry trooper would be able to stop. To keep an animal in the dio. maybe a surprised fox or two would work. For your splashing water I am trying this. On a dio. I'm working on I will take clear plastic sheet and cut various patterns and then coat with acrylic gel on both sides for thickness and water pattern. Rock bottom streams will be clear and mud bottom splashes in shallow water will have a tint of brown from the horses hitting the bottom and stirring it up. Hope this helps you with what has started out as a great idea.

Yep, it's the MB box. What do you mean by "eyes are that great anymore"?
As for the Grizzly.....don't know. Sometimes something should just be funny...
As forcthe water, thanks for the tip. Post some picture when yours is ready.
I'm using oils more and more these days, for horses, for faces. Drying time is much longer but it blends so nice!

My typo.I meant to say, eyes aren't that good any more. That's why I use magnifiers. I see your point about funny, yup, need to keep a bit of humor now and then. I have a set of oils but my usual paint nowadays is vallejo's. I guess I should go to oils as the blending is much better.

Like the subject matter very much. What did you use to make the horse reins and cross belts on the troopers?
