Part B1. How do we know where to position it (and the idler sprocket)? It's justva round peg into a round hole. Not like Tamiya's method of positive location. This kit is driving me nuts.
Thanks. Lee

I leave the axle uncemented until the track is built as, particularly with vehicles using paired links like most Tiger Bs, the risk if you fix the idler position first is that you end up with a gap between the last links that is not the same length as the pitch of a double link. It’s easier with workable track as then you just set the idler position based on how much track tension is required, as on the original.

On German tanks the idler wheel sets the track tension. Best to leave it loose until you are fitting the tracks.

Read through Tiger II Track Slack Adjustment. Idler arm positioning and proper amount of track tension are described.

I have the same kit and was wondering the same thing until I put on the Friul tracks. The problem sorts itself out as there’s only one good position when the tracks are in place.
