Just wondered if the 50 was ever replaced with Russian MG to ease logistics.
Havent seen a photo, but reckon it would look pretty cool

Don't think so.
The Emcha came equipped with M2 machine guns and ammo.
Why waste these MG's only to replace them with DShK's?
There were plenty of other uses for DShK's.
The whole M4A2 implied a new/separate logistics chain so
there would not have been anything to gain by only replacing the MG.
I may be wrong but the few available photos of Soviet Shermans show the good old M2.
But, who knows, maybe a broken M2 got replaced by a DShK on some tank somewhere along the eastern front for a few days before they could get a new M2. Maybe the repair crew could arrange a way to mount it securely enough so that it could be used ....

The mounts were incompatible and with Lend-lease spares actually so plentuful there wouldnt be a need. I have yet to see a picture of someone trying to rig up a machine gun on the roof of a T-34 so why a dshk on a Sherman.

Maybe the wheeled mount of a ground mount on the turret top. If anything though maybe a light mg on it's bipod and a tank rider squatting behind the turret to fire it.

I say then feel free to create your own version, because who knows: Maybe there WAS such a rig somewhere out of pure improvising but noone cared to take a picture back then. I say, it is at least POSSIBLE that something like that existed, no matter how PROBABLE... and here you come into the picture showing us how it might have looked...

Like I said, the wheeled mount folded up to lean against the rear of the turret firing over the top. With the gunner standing on the rear deck. I'll be doing the American equivalent one of these days along with a tank with turret to the rear guarding a column of prisoners (with the surrendered officers sitting on the rear deck because the townsfolk wanted to lynch him.

Both incidents are in memoirs I've read over the years.
