I understand that the IDF M113 Fitters were assigned to either M60, Centurion or Merkava battalions. Can anyone suggest what markings would be typically applied to these recovery vehicles?

Sorry, I missed this - I haven’t been well. All the fitters I’ve seen carry the usual white on black registration mark, and most have either 19 or 19Aleph in large white or white with a black outline letters, often front and back and on either large bins on the sides or on pieces of cloth tied on other things on the sides.

Not many markings other than that... Fitters do seem to be fond of red paint though, and ‘highlight’ all sorts of ‘important’ bits of the vehicle, often quite randomly.

Desert Eagle Publishing’s book on the Zelda fitters is very good - lots of good photos - it’s No.9 in the series: http://www.deserteagle-publishing.com/books.html

There are such examples...

...but there are regular, white on sand gray (similar to the tactical markings used on other IDF AFVs) examples too.
