Hi All - new to airbrushing, not to modeling, but had a question on getting fine lines/small blotches with the Iwata HP-CS. I noticed the closer you get in, the smaller the pattern and liked my results, but wondering if you guys free hand or mask or a combo of both for soft line WW2 armor?

It depends on the effect you wish to achieve. I use silly putty or therapy for masking hard edges. For a soft edge, you can use poster tack. If I'm not going by a photo, I free hand it.
