I think this was a good thing. Everyone's new and or revamped banners are great. We have some Photoshoppin' fools on this site. Good job everyone.

Too much of a bother, I just killed mine. I doubt it was used very much.

Shirley...you jest.

Shall I cite the many times I've referred to your Photo Album's?.......nah, I probably shouldn't tell those who are planning on building the M102 for the "Incoming!!" Campaign that there are some great photos of the piece. Or, that those considering a HEMTT GT for the T2K '04 Campaign would find the M977, M978, M985, and the M1074. Nor, shall I say anything about the M1A1 photos that some might find interesting over on the Abrams GB............nope, won't say a bloody word.

For those who visit Rob's motorpool gallery (in the old gallery) you can get to it the same way I do (to get into the old gallery) by just entering....

www.armorama.com/motorpool

It is a shame that those involved (including me) have not been able to migrate these photos and info to the new gallery. Any volunteers for such a noble cause??

I realize this comment is a dig at me. I tried to see if I could create individual sub albums in the new motor pool album loacted here: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/photos/index.php?cat=512. When I tried, it kept adding the sub album to my own personal gallery. I didn't want to have dozens of motor pool reference sub albums in the same place I wanted to keep photos of my own model kits. I've already got dozens of Barbarossa photos tossed into my personal gallery. When I delete a photo, it disappears from the official Barbarossa album as well.

It's not a space issue, it's an organization issue. I'd like to keep my model photos separate from my motor pool reference photos. Plus when I reorganize the motor pool, I want to try to do several sub albums for each "main" album. For example, there will be an "Abrams Tank" album and that will have two sub albums, "M1A1" and "M1IP". Each of those albums will have a sub album of "Turret Exterior", "Hull Exterior", and "Interior".

I would eventually have several "main" albums of categories like "Light Wheeled Vehicles", "Medium Wheeled Vehicles", "Heavy Wheeled Vehicles", "M113 FOV", "Artillery", "Recovery Vehicles", "Bradley FOV", "Trailers", "Engineer Equipment", "Abrams Tank", etc. Each main album would be broken up into the various sub albums described above. Oh well.

Rob,
If it was a dig, it was a subconcious one. I take part of the blame here as well because I fully intended to spend the time needed to do this (but obviously haven't).

The problem creating categories sounds like user error (okay that was a dig).

Seriously...you should see (2) different ADMIN links as an Editor in the gallery area. The one on the left if to manage your personal categories. The one on the right (just "Admin" I think) is where you can create categories in the main gallery. Check it out and if you have trouble accessing it let me know.

Thanks,
Jim

Would you like more substance to your banner? Or a different layout?

You can also have a small looking icon or image without all the white space if you save as a transparent GIF file and make your background empty. This is a bit tricky for non-photoshop users (as your application may not support this). For many non-photoshop apps what they offer is an eyedropper to select the color you want to designate as the transparency color. If you use white as the background color you may run into problems as this will make white pixels in your image disappear as well. To get around this use an odd color (like bright purple) as the background color and use the eyedropper to select that color. Save as transparent GIF (GIF89a) and away you go.

Well...the LONG and SHORT of it is... you need to reformat the size of your image. Or more acurately you need to resize your canvas size and leave your image the same size but add a area of dead-space to the right or left (or both) to make up the difference.

See my post above for more info on transparency so that you can make it look as it did before (notice my banner for example. It looks smaller than it is - highlight over it and you will see what I mean).
