Those are nothing more than test and research vehicles with simulated armor packages. Nothing secret squirrel at all about them.

No, I didn't think there was - it's just that the 1st and 4th pictures seem to be the same tank if you compare the weathering on the add-on plate on the nose.

However, what I don't get is why an M1A2 SEP V2, which presumably already has the full spec armor package, would need additional plates? Unless the Army is also trialing a new armor upgrade for current tanks?
Also wonder if the tank, as fitted with the Trophy system will be road / rail transportable (due to the additional width)? Might make sense to eliminate the turret stowage boxes and come up with a smoother install, similar to what the Israelis have with their Merkava's.
