I have not seen these sorts of add-ons. Should give the AM folks something to ponder.

According to this article, the US Army selected IMI's 'Iron Fist' for the Bradley and Artis' 'Iron Curtain' for the Stryker: https://www.defensenews.com/digital-show-dailies/ausa/2017/10/09/europe-bound-army-to-urgently-field-abrams-tanks-with-trophy-active-protection-system/

Interestingly, the IDF evaluated a 'Trophy' equipped Stryker.

Here’s a link to some pics I took at AUSA17 of the model of the Trophy-equipped Abrams. Shows the layout well.

In looking at your pics, what's the purpose of the very tall mast mounted sensor on that Stryker model? Is it part of the ATGM defensive system or simply for surveillance?

What's up with those plates on the turret and hull front on the M1 picture posted above? Not present in the other pics.

Those are nothing more than test and research vehicles with simulated armor packages. Nothing secret squirrel at all about them.

No, I didn't think there was - it's just that the 1st and 4th pictures seem to be the same tank if you compare the weathering on the add-on plate on the nose.

Yeah, I figured that. However, what I don't get is why an M1A2 SEP V2, which presumably already has the full spec armor package, would need additional plates? Unless the Army is also trialing a new armor upgrade for current tanks? Just found it a bit unusual.

Also wonder if the tank, as fitted with the Trophy system will be road / rail transportable (due to the additional width)? Might make sense to eliminate the turret stowage boxes and come up with a smoother install, similar to what the Israelis have with their Merkava's.

Given that most of the bad guy's ATGM's are laser guided, anyone know if the Trophy system has a laser warning capability or if not, are their plans to add this to US tactical vehicles as well? Every Army helo now has the capability, find it surprising that tanks / tracks don't have it yet.

Could this be extra armor plates applied to the most vulnerable places in order to allow the examination of the damage in case the 'Trophy' misses...?

The Merkava's modular add-on armor allows a more streamlined application of 'Trophy', that's for sure.
