Personally I would like to think that everything here is about how absolutely giggly happy we all as a group are for someone to FINALLY give us a modern Bergepanther. Anyone else pinning for something else can leave via the back door thataway! I thought that AFV offered some M88 variant so go check it out, or bother them for your particular variant. In the mean time -boy are we ever happy!

I'm blaming Takom for breaking my new year's resolution. That way I'm not guilty..

I know I am pretty excited. Since the market for the Italeri kit is about to nosedive, I may well simply quicky-build mine and return to the days of yesteryear and blow it up with something in my backyard.

Glad to of finished my ICM kit from last century! I may be tempted with this one to go alongside. 2018 is shaping up to be a great year for engineering vehicles. Thank you Takom.

any one an idea for a "beute" bergepanther ? Or a civil application ?
The French Army operated Panthers equipped units in two Armored Regiments (the 501st and the 503rd) until 1949. I think there's a good chance there were a few Bergepanthers attached to those units. You seem to wave the right flag to dig into it...
This crane was used in France until the 70s, although I can't tell you whether it's based on a regular Panther chassis or on a Bergepanther's.

Thanks for the photo, don't believe that its the one I was thinking about but it sure is cool and a terrific idea for a scratch-build! Okay, so it would be a difficult and LARGE scratch build, but definitely attention-catching contest night! Interesting that the bogie wheels are seemingly stock Wehrmacht panzergelb. I also smiled as I initially thought that the company was called "Acme" which brought back Bugs Bunny/Road Runner episodes from my childhood.

Taeus, Reluctant Renegade,
Many thanks for your input and the pix... nice conversion but too much of work for my capacities
Reluctant Renegad is right, Free French and FFI did use some "beute" Panther from 44 to 45. Then, post-war, 503e RCC and 6e Cuirassier got some A & G version but very briefly, due to the lack of spare parts and obvious standardisation policy.
I never heard of any Berg in these units but for sure it is a path to be checked out. Thanks for the idea.

yeah, they did a m88a1 and Legends did an A2 update to the AFV kit. But I'm sure the troll knows this and is just trying to piss people off.

According to this website (scroll down to the very end of the article) ‘some captured Bergepanthers were used by the French army until the mid 1950s’:
http://www.achtungpanzer.com/panzerkampfwagen-v-panther-sd-kfz-171.htmI don’t how how accurate this info is, but given the relatively large number (for a captured vehicle at least) of Panthers used both by the FFI and the post-war French Army, I would say it’s plausible.

To say the least, I am absolutely not an expert in Panther neither in french AFV (despite the flag
... just a sherman/churchill fan interested -also- in ARV, so thank you for all you help. I will ask true local experts from Saumur about french bergpanther when I will get the chance to do so.

Well a round of beers
and Cheers
that the Berge is finally off our list. Now the Herc, the HEMTTA4 and the Mack NO yet to go!
(The Scammell would have been on this list but that got taken care of in 3 versions last year!)
Can I add a Sherman BARC and DD to the list as well?

Well, apparently the answer is affirmative. The Czech Railways used two Bergepanthers well into the 60s.
Post-war Bergepanthers used by the Czech Army. These vehicles remained in service until the late 50s - early 60s.
More and more interesting !! Now I just need a 4.6.2 or 4.8.5 Skoda steam locomotive in 1/35 to buy a second kit (first one in case I find a "french-Berg")
Great pictures and input.

I am sure you already know about the Resicast DD and BARV kits ! I know price level is often opposed as a limitation but these Resicat kits are so unique, they really deserve to save on industrial plastic product to put money on these hands-made resin beauties.
After two DD, I really wish to afford the BARV conversion

I've got to say that this has definitely been one of the more interesting discussions I've been in and the icing on the cake (besides those great pics -thanks by the way!) is that we will shortly have a new BERGEPANTHER! (Many cheers in the background) I'm already looking for a credible site to pre-order but so far no luck. The search goes on.

This kit is in part based upon the elaborate, super detailed resin kit made in part by Joe Bakanovic and others associated with Tiger Model Designs. I have the resin kit, it by far the most fantastic kit with a full interior I have ever seen. Please look at Joe's announcement on TMD's website:

Special thanks to Joe and the others involved at TMD for their work and the permission that they extended graciously to Takom that allowed this kit to come together so spectacularly! I can hardly wait until I have a copy of my own!

By the way, some of these Czech Bergepanthers' original Maybach engine was replaced by the V-2-34 unit of the T-34...

Well if you want either of those make a special thread about it, instead of blabbering about it on a bergepanther thread. What you're doing now is basically bordering on spam.
