Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has faced this issue...

My problem is that I just can't fit the track guide horns between the two halves of the idler wheel on my Meng Panzerhaubitze 2000...

The Revell kit has the same size idlers but with more space between the two halves of it.

Any idea if the issue is with the idler or the tracks? Or have I someting up?

Thanks,

Adam

Have you installed parts E7 and E8 correctly?

It might be a missalignment problem between the road wheels and the idlers that is causing your fit problems.

Hello Nikos,

The issue is with the idler wheel - the space is too small (or the track guide horns are too big):

Cheers,

What about the road wheels? Are they OK?
I would suggest a slice of plasticard between the halves of the idler wheel.

Hi,

The roadwheels are OK... yes, the solution is the plastic card, I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue. Though I don't think one can make a mistake when gluing the two parts together...so probably it's bad engineering.

Cheers,

Adam

I checked my kit and it has the same issue. There is little space left for the track guide teeth.

I also found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IS1JIh39lI where the guy building the kit faces the same problem and adds a spacer from styrene (fifth minute of the video).

So it is a design flaw of the kit.

I built this model and never suffered the issue mentioned, could the moulds have had a refurbishment and are now a little out?

It seems that the issue exists on the second release, the one with the add-on armor and not the first release.

Yeah, I was gonna say I built one and it was fine but it was the original (green) standard PzH2000 and it was one of the finest kits I've ever built.

Having both kits I've just checked and the idlers are indeed different in each kit, the original version havin a poly-cap between the two idler halves whereas the later release has none and accordingly modified idler halves....how strange? You can see the different instruction sheets here:

I wonder if the poly cap is in the box but missed on the instructions.

I built this model and had a slight issue as well. I separated the idle wheels and glued them with a slightly larger space inbetween and it resolved the issue.
