Can anyone tell me if this vehicle/weapon combination is still in use please. I'm making the Italeri kit and would lke to upgrade it from Gulf1 to Gulf2 if possible.
A pic would be good if it's still in service, if not I'll build it oob.

Yes, the Avenger is still in front line service and was used in Desert Storm and are still in use in Iraq. I had a platoon of them attached to my Radar Battery during the invasion of Iraq. The Italeri kit is right on with the exterior details. The interior is pretty sparse and needs some work to fill it up. Sorry, no photos.

Hello,
One unit I know for a fact that used them in OIF is the 2-44 ADA. The 2-44 ADA is part of the 101st Airborne. I am sure numerous other units used them to as they are a standard peice of equipment in a ADA Battalion.

P.S.
The vehicles used by 2-44 were left in Nato Three Tone and were marked on the sides with either /1,/2 or /3 .This denoted the brigade they were assigned to if I recall correctly. The marking was painted in sand color and applied to the filler panels on both sides of the vehicle. Unit bumper number is 101ABN2-44ADA . That unit bumper number is on the front passenger side of the nose and rear driver side corner of the rear end. They were also equippied with CIP panels mounted to the doors.

They are also in use here in the states. There were, for a time, Avengers in DC protecting the Washington Monument and White House. Not sure which units though.

4-5 ADA is the divisional Air Defense for the 1st CAV. A Btry would support 1st BDE, B Btry 2nd BDE, C Btry 3rd BDE. I believe 3-4 ADA is the 82nd divisional ADA, but i'd have to walk down the street to check that out.
