Statistics are only as reliable as the underlying data and comparing salaries doesn't show the percentage of the population who actually has a job and gets paid for it.
"The U.S Bureau of the Census has the annual real median personal income at $31,099 in 2016."

The median isn't affected by a few high incomes since it is the single value in the centre of the group (median of 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 50, 100, 150 is 2 while the average is over 28). The John or Jane Doe in the US who is in the middle of over 320 million US citizens, including thos with no salary at all, earns two Ukrainian monthly salaries each week ....
The cost of living also has to be considered:
"For a native Ukrainian, the average salary is surprisingly low by Western standards. It can vary between $200-$400 per month.
However, the cost of living is also very low compared to the West. I’ve known people in Kyiv who pay somewhere in the region of $100 for their apartment. A week’s groceries are somewhere in the region of $5–$10. Also, eating out in a fairly high class restaurant will not set you back much, I once had 3 courses in a 5 star bistro for less than $10."
https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-average-salary-in-Ukraine-in-2017One weeks groceries for one person here in Stockholm is certainly more than 10 or even 15 USD.
USD 10 gets you a simple canteen lunch, not 3 courses in a fancy place ...
The interesting thing to compare is how much there is left of the salary after all the necessary costs have been paid.
Earning $1000 weekly with weekly living costs of $990 leaves 10 bucks for all the other stuff. A wage of $100 weekly with living costs of $80 leaves 20 bucks for the other stuff.
Who has got the largest "free" spending power? The person with the $1000 weekly or the one with $100?
Only an example since I do not have the hard facts for costs of living in the US or the Ukraine, not even the ones for Sweden
